Phil Jefferys Appointed as Director, Development

Building on the BG&E Resources’ (BGER) six-plus years of robust performance, the increasing global demand for critical and rare earth minerals and renewable energy systems – BGER is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Jefferys as Director, Development.

Phil is a highly-skilled executive who has been employed by BGER since 2022, in the role of Principal Study Manager and has successfully helped to shape the Company’s approach to helping proponents bring green steel and critical minerals to market.

He is a seasoned engineer with some 20 years’ experience gained in Australia, Asia, Africa and South America. Prior to joining BGER, he held senior roles at BHP, SinoSteel Midwest Corporation, Boston Consulting Group, GEM Consulting and Worley.

His expertise spans engineering, design, project delivery, strategy, studies and project development, and Indigenous procurement/contracting.

Craig Bloxham, Managing Director, says “Phil is a team player and has solid recent experience from both the West and East coasts of Australia. He has kicked some serious goals in the emerging space of green steel with some of our internationally-based clients, as well as spearheaded several bodies of work in helping critical mineral companies to accelerate their developments.”

Craig adds, “In the new role, Phil will lead our Advisory business, contribute to organisational development, strategic business development, and team with others to nurture and grow market share with our key clients.”

Some of the projects that Phil has contributed to during his career include, Mozal Aluminium Smelter and Escondida Copper Mine, Port Hedland Operations and Outer Harbour Project, Blue Hills Iron Ore Mine, Oakajee Port and Rail Development, Kwinana Nickel Refinery, Dampier-to-Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline, Comalco Alumina Refinery.

While at BHP, Phil also significantly strengthened their contribution to regional economies by growing their total spend with local companies in Australia by 80 per cent over three years. He also expanded their flagship ‘local buying program’ significantly.

Phil says, “This is a great opportunity to build on what I’ve achieved to date with new and existing clients. There’s so many areas for growth in the Resources and Energy sectors, and I’m looking forward to teaming with my colleagues to help BGER achieve the next phase of business maturity.”

Phil holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration. Outside of his full-time role, Phil continues to be passionate and committed to supporting Indigenous business owners to grow.
