Danny George Appointed as General Manager – Engineering Projects

As a result of the increasing demand for engineering services to support Australia’s energy transition, BG&E Resources (BGER) is pleased to announce the appointment of Danny George into the role of General Manager – Engineering Projects.

Danny is a proven high-performer at BGER and this newly created role enables him to continue to draw on his 20 years of experience in the delivery of engineering, procurement, and contract management (EPCM) and lump-sum turnkey EPC contracts, to help clients bring their projects to market.

While Danny has substantial experience gained from the thriving Resources and Energy sectors, he also has comprehensive experience in project delivery for a broad range of projects, including major ports and maritime infrastructure.

Danny has a wealth of experience and has been instrumental in leading the delivering of several major projects, including the first stage of the Stanley Point 3 (SP3) Port Expansion – Detailed Engineering Study, for market leading Resources giant, Roy Hill.

Craig Bloxham, Managing Director at BGER says, “It’s been a pleasure working alongside Danny and this new role provides a greater opportunity for him to increase the value that he provides to clients in the project delivery arena.

“He will build on his portfolio of major projects delivered while at BGER, which currently includes a study and capital cost estimate for a proposed Greenfield steel hub, in the North of Western Australia. Danny was also contracted to Fortescue recently, where he was responsible for facilitating delivery governance and engineering contractor management for a Greenfield hydrogen generation electrolyser manufacturing and testing facility, in Gladstone, Queensland.”

“Danny brings robust project delivery experience to BGER which will help us continue to design and deliver projects that are safe and sustainable, as well as on time and on budget. His passion for high performance and providing integrated solutions for clients is first class. He is an asset to the business and I wish him well in his new role,” says Craig.

He previously delivered feasibility studies and executed major projects spanning mineral process plants, bulk materials handling systems, and rail and road infrastructure. His diverse experience includes state-of-the-art processing and handling facilities for a wide variety of commodities including iron ore, coal, gold, diamonds, copper, mineral sands, platinum, lithium and green steel.

Prior to joining BGER, he held senior project engineering and management roles at Calibre, Holcim, Ausenco and Thyssenkrupp, among others. Danny has a solid track record of successfully delivering projects across the globe, specifically in Australia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

Danny shared some aspirations for his new role, “I’m looking forward to working with and supporting the great calibre of engineers and designers at BGER. Through effective project delivery, we help clients to bring to market bankable and resilient projects which provides tangible value for their stakeholders.”

He adds, “This is an exciting opportunity to also provide strategic guidance, and to contribute to operational excellence and accelerate organisation growth.”

Danny holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), a Master of Engineering and is undertaking research towards a Doctor of Business Administration. Outside of work, he spends his downtime playing tennis and walking his dog. He also enjoys travelling with his wife and son, who aim to travel and explore a new country every year.
