Introducing Jordee Hunter

Meet Jordee Hunter, a Graduate Civil Engineer, who joined BG&E Resources in December 2020.

She says, “I graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Civil & Environmental Engineering in September 2020, during the height of the COVID pandemic. It was a very uncertain time for everyone, and I was unsure how this would affect my job search. However, I was lucky enough to secure a role with BG&E Resources in December 2020.

Since starting her journey with BG&E Resources, Jordee has worked on numerous projects as a civil engineer and undertook a Project Control role. When looking back at her experience to date, Jordee says, “My favourite highlight was the site trips that I was able to do, particularly to walk the alignment of a haul road that I was involved in designing. This was an awesome real-world experience compared to the on-screen experience we usually have daily.”

Fast forward to 2023, Jordee is supporting both our Civil and Hydrology teams with project delivery, proposals, and bidding work, particularly for the Wodgina Upgrade project. Jordee has mentioned that key female involvement is the most empowering aspect of working at BG&E Resources.

“Seeing successful female engineers working in senior positions, while navigating either starting a family or raising families was hugely empowering for me as I started my career. I’m about to get married next month (August) and hoping to start my own family in a few years, so knowing that my career can still progress in a company that supports staff development, and a real work-life balance is very important to me.”

For undergraduates who are looking to enter the professional engineering world, Jordee’s words of wisdom are, “Don’t limit yourself by with a specific field in mind – follow what you find interesting, and you might end up somewhere completely different. Find the people you work well with and those who can teach you the most – and stick to them like glue.”
