Rio Tinto and China Baowu Steel Group are developing the Western Range Iron Ore Project in the Pilbara, investing some two billion dollars to develop the mine.
Western Range’s annual production capacity of 25 million tonnes of iron ore will sustain production of the Pilbara Blend from Rio Tinto’s existing Paraburdoo mining hub.
BG&E Resources provided Traditional Owners engagement, heritage site gap analysis and regulatory assistance, as well as developed an additional Heritage Site Survey scope of works and negotiated on Country access. This included engaging the project delivery team which reduced the number of Section 18s that were required, from more than 50 applications to eight.
