BG&E Resources was engaged to complete detailed design, including shop detailing, construction support and commissioning support, of the solution developed during the feasibility study. The design optimisation significantly reduced electrical scope when compared to feasibility study. BG&E Resources also provided access to the model in a virtual reality environment allowing both Rio Tinto and construction contractor the ability prepare for shutdown work in a fully immersive environment. This allowed the contractor to better plan their work and minimise risk of issues during construction and commissioning.
Vibration at Hope Downs 4 has been identified as a class IV risk. BG&E Resources was engaged to complete detailed design, including construction support and commissioning support, of BG&E Resources developed solution previously implemented at Marandoo PC to resolve structural dynamics. An award-winning innovative solution was developed that incorporated offering up a large concrete and steel isolation frame to the underside of the existing floor and mounting it on air springs. This innovative solution simplified the complex dynamic problem to a solution that is readily understood, and the study was also completed under budget and on schedule.
