BGER were engaged to undertake lifting, transportation and temporary works design of the modular steel structures. BGER worked closely with Laing O’Rourke’s transportation contractor NMT Global to optimise our design solutions while minimising risks.
BGER was involved with each stage in the journey, from overseas fabrication workshops through to erection on site including; lifting on and off the ship, stability and specification of sea tie downs during sea transportation, land transportation from port to site, storage at laydown yards, lifting and combining of sub-assemblies and final lift in to permanent location. 890 modules were transported over the duration of the project, the largest module weighing in at 290 tonnes.
