Meet Matt Adams

Meet Matt Adams, who manages our Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department, leading with his love and passion for all things electronic, scientific and high-tech.

From early in his career, Matt has always had an interest in solving technical problems. One of the highlights of his professional journey is being transferred to Los Angeles (LA) to lead the scoping of an IT compliance project for a global organisation.

He explains, “As part of the project, I was tasked with bringing together leaders from across the globe to collaborate in LA on how the organisation would achieve compliance with an important ICT standard.”

Fast forward to his current role at BG&E Resources (BGER), Matt has thoroughly enjoyed building and implementing multi-year strategic plans to support business growth and expansion. He believes that continuing to work towards a reliable, scalable, and flexible ICT environment will allow BGER to flourish.

To support our broader commitment to ESG, Matt says that his team contributes by actively looking at ways to reduce energy consumption by choosing more sustainable technology solutions and recycling equipment where possible.

When reflecting on his superpower and the characteristics he believes are required to thrive in the ICT profession, Matt chooses ‘patience’. He says, “When solving complex ICT problems, I’d like to think I have the patience to listen to the issue and understand the business impact before jumping straight to a solution.”

In giving advice to an ICT graduate, Matt says “Don’t be afraid to ask questions and get involved with opportunities outside your comfort zone.”

In his spare time, you’ll find Matt spending time with his family and catching up with friends or actively cycling on a mountain or road bike. He adds that he is a lover of big cities, having lived in London and LA before settling in Perth.

Travelling is also a big part of Matt’s life. He has recently ventured to Hong Kong Disneyland and Singapore with his wife and young son (pictured).
